Blue Jackets re-sign Harrington through 2021-22 season

Efenseman Scott Harrington includes re-signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets on a three-year deal that runs throughout the 2021-22 season.
Harrington, who had been a restricted free agent, played in 73 games with the Blue Jackets last year and had 2 goals and a career-best 15 assists.
“Scott Harrington is a really smart, reliable defenseman who made great strides to be a regular contributor on the blueline last year,” said Jarmo Kekalainen, the team’s general director.
“He works really hard and has continued to improve steadily over the previous three seasons. Scott has revealed himself to be an excellent leader who has earned the respect of his teammates and coaches and we look forward to his continuing contributions to our club.”
Harrington, 26, was originally a second-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2011. He played in 10 games with the Penguins in 2014-15 and 15 with the Toronto Maple Leafs the next season before being acquired by the Blue Jackets in a trade.
He played portions of the past two seasons in Columbus before getting a routine in the 2018-19 year old.
Terms of the deal were undisclosed, but reports pegged it worth an yearly average value of $1.633 million each year.
