Blue Jackets re-sign Harrington through 2021-22 season

Efenseman Scott Harrington has re-signed with the Columbus Blue Jackets on a three-year deal that runs throughout the 2021-22 season.
Harrington, who had been a restricted free agent, played 73 games with the Blue Jackets last year and had 2 goals and a career-best 15 assists.
“Scott Harrington is a really smart, reliable defenseman who made great strides to become a regular contributor on our blueline last year,” said Jarmo Kekalainen, the group’s general director.
“He works really hard and has continued to improve steadily over the past 3 seasons. Scott has revealed himself to be a superb leader who gets the admiration of his coaches and teammates and we look forward to his continued contributions to our club”
Harrington, 26, was initially a second-round draft pick by the Pittsburgh Penguins at 2011. He played in 10 games with the Penguins in 2014-15 and 15 together with the Toronto Maple Leafs the next season before being acquired by the Blue Jackets at a trade.
He played parts of their past two seasons in Columbus before becoming a routine in the 2018-19 season.
Details of the deal were undisclosed, but reports pegged it as being worth an yearly average value of $1.633 million per year.
